It’s late December, time to figure out what to do with those unused, unopened gift cards. They usually end up forgotten in a drawer: in 2007, $8 million dollars were wasted like that.

What is more interesting is the way the market behaves here. On GiftCardRescue, Home Depot cards sell with 5% discount, but Lowe’s cards sell with 10% discount. Even more is with a Tiffany & Co gift card of $250, going for $200: a 20% discount. What does it say about the company, or its customers?
